Abstract: Let S=K[x1,ldots,xn] denote the polynomial ring in n variables over a field K with each mathrmdegxi=1 and IsubsetS a homogeneous ideal of S with dimS/I=d. The Hilbert series of S/I is of the form hS/I(lambda)/(1lambda)d, where hS/I(lambda)=h0+h1lambda+h2lambda2+cdots+hslambdas with hseq0 is the h-polynomial of S/I. Given arbitrary integers rgeq1 and sgeq1, a lexsegment ideal I of S=K[x1,ldots,xn], where nleqmaxr,s+2, satisfying mathrmreg(S/I)=r and mathrmdeghS/I(lambda)=s will be constructed.
