Abstract: We present an algorithm that transforms, if possible, a given ODE or PDE with radical function coefficients into one with rational coefficients by means of a rational change of variables. It also applies to systems of linear ODEs. It is based on previous work on reparametrization of radical algebraic varieties.

Based on previous work of the authors on reparametrization of radical algebraic varieties, in this paper the authors present an algorithm that transforms, if possible, a given ordinary differential equation (ODE) or a partial differential equation (PDE) with radical function coefficients into one with rational coefficients. For this purpose, the authors consider a rational change of variables so that solutions correspond one-to-one. It is shown that the method also applies to systems of linear ODEs.
