Abstract: We study the transverse K"ahler holonomy groups on Sasaki manifolds (M,oldmathcalS) and their stability properties under transverse holomorphic deformations of the characteristic foliation by the Reeb vector field. In particular, we prove that when the first Betti number b1(M) and the basic Hodge number hB0,2(oldmathcalS) vanish, then oldmathcalS is stable under deformations of the transverse K"ahler flow. In addition we show that an irreducible transverse hyperk"ahler Sasakian structure is oldmathcalS-unstable, whereas, an irreducible transverse Calabi-Yau Sasakian structure is oldmathcalS-stable when dimMgeq7. Finally, we prove that the standard Sasaki join operation (transverse holonomy U(n1)imesU(n2)) as well as the fiber join operation preserve oldmathcalS-stability.

In this paper the authors study the stability of transverse Kähler holonomy groups in a Sasakian manifold under transverse holomorphic deformations of the Reeb foliation. A Sasakian structure \(\mathcal{S}\) is said to be \(\mathcal{S}\)-stable (or \(\mathcal{S}\)-rigid) if every sufficiently small transverse Kählerian deformation of it remains Sasakian. The main result of this paper states that a Sasakian manifold with vanishing first Betti number and such that the basic Hodge numbers \(h_B^{0,2}=h_B^{2,0}=0\) is \(\mathcal{S}\)-stable. On the other hand, the authors show that a Sasakian manifold with vanishing first Betti number and a compatible irreducible transverse hyperkähler structure is unstable.
