Lifting theorems for completely positive maps

Abstract: We prove lifting theorems for completely positive maps going out of exact Cast-algebras, where we remain in control of which ideals are mapped into which. A consequence is, that if mathsfX is a second countable topological space, mathfrakA and mathfrakB are separable, nuclear Cast-algebras over mathsfX, and the action of mathsfX on mathfrakA is continuous, then E(mathsfX;mathfrakA,mathfrakB)congKK(mathsfX;mathfrakA,mathfrakB) naturally. As an application, we show that a separable, nuclear, strongly purely infinite Cast-algebra mathfrakA absorbs a strongly self-absorbing Cast-algebra mathscrD if and only if mathfrakI and mathfrakIotimesmathscrD are KK-equivalent for every two-sided, closed ideal mathfrakI in mathfrakA. In particular, if mathfrakA is separable, nuclear, and strongly purely infinite, then mathfrakAotimesmathcalO2congmathfrakA if and only if every two-sided, closed ideal in mathfrakA is KK-equivalent to zero.
