On the finite-time blow-up of symphonic map flows.
The theory of the symphonic map flow is developed both from geometric and analytic points of view. Remark that the notion of the symphonic map flow was introduced by these authors in 2018 [\textit{M. Misawa} and \textit{N. Nakauchi}, Adv. Differ. Equ. 23, No. 9--10, 693--724 (2018; Zbl 1406.58011)]. As a main result, it is proved the existence of a rotationally symmetric initial datum for which the rotationally symmetric solution to the symphonic map flow blows up at a finite time. Some important additional results (in particular, the so-called comparison principle for the rotationally symmetric equation) are also presented.
