Abstract: Let be a field with char and be not algebraically closed. Let and be a field extension of where are algebraically independent over . Assume that is a -automorphism on defined by [ sigma: sqrt{a}mapsto -sqrt{a}, xmapsto frac{b}{x}, ymapsto frac{c(x+frac{b}{x})+d}{y} ] where , and at least one of is non-zero. Let be the fixed subfield of . We show that is isomorphic to the function field of a certain surface in which is given as the intersection of two quadrics. We give criteria for the -rationality of by using the Hilbert symbol. As an appendix of the paper, we also give an alternative geometric proof of a part of the result which is provided to the authors by J.-L. Colliot-Th'el`ene.
