The author presents an analysis of nonlinear and linear deformation and stress of a circular torus. A general Maple code was written and used in numerical simulations. Completed investigations show that the results obtained on the base of different models, such as the nonlinear Mindlin, linear Mindlin, nonlinear Kirchhoff-Love, and linear Kirchhoff-Love model, are close to each other in presented cases. These models were connected with account of membrane deformation and bending deformation and also with the shear deformation. The results show that the linear Kirchhoff-Love model of the circular torus gives good accuracy in presented cases, so the nonlinear deformation analysis of a Mindlin torus can be replaced by a more simple formulation, such as the linear Kirchhoff-Love theory of a torus. This conclusion is useful for engineer applications.
