In this paper, the author investigates the following second-order nonlinear boundary value problem \[ x^{\prime\prime} = f(t, x),\; x(0)=0,\; x(t)=ct+o(t),\; t\rightarrow\infty, \] where \(f\in C([0,\infty)\times\mathbb{R}, \mathbb{R})\). The author proves a theorem which includes sufficient conditions, on the existence of a global solution on the half line. The theorem requires considerably weaker conditions than previously known conditions. The technique of the proof is based on the fixed point method. Finally, an application to semilinear Schrödinger equations is also given.
