A hyperkähler submanifold of the monopole moduli space
This paper concerns the submanifold \(N_k\) of \(M^0_k\), the moduli space of strongly centered \(\mathrm{SU}(2)\)-monopoles of charge \(k\) on \(\mathbb{R}^3\), whose elements are monopoles invariant under the involution of \(\mathbb{R}^3\) which sends \(x\) to \(-x\). \(N_k\) is first described in terms of solutions to Nahm's equations, then in terms of rational maps of degree \(k\), and finally as a certain transverse Hilbert scheme of points. This last point of view is used to determine the fundamental group of \(N_k\) and to show that a specific family of deformations of such Hilbert schemes of points has a natural interpretation in terms of Nahm's equations.
