Abstract: Let mathcalM be a semifinite von Neumann algebra with a faithful semifinite normal trace au. We show that the symmetrically Delta-normed operator space E(mathcalM,au) corresponding to an arbitrary symmetrically Delta-normed function space E(0,infty) is an interpolation space between L0(mathcalM,au) and mathcalM, which is in contrast with the classical result that there exist symmetric operator spaces E(mathcalM,au) which are not interpolation spaces between L1(mathcalM,au) and mathcalM. Besides, we show that the mathcalK-functional of every XinL0(mathcalM,au)+mathcalM coincides with the mathcalK-functional of its generalized singular value function mu(X). Several applications are given, e.g., it is shown that the pair (L0(mathcalM,au),mathcalM) is mathcalK-monotone when mathcalM is a non-atomic finite factor.
