Commuting traces of upper triangular matrix rings

Let \(R\) be a unital ring with \(\frac{1}{2}\in R\), and \(T_{n}(R)\), \(n\geq3\), the upper triangular matrix ring over \(R\). Let \(B:T_{n}(R)\times T_{n}(R)\to T_{n}(R)\) be a biadditive map, and \(q:T_{n}(R)\to T_{n}(R)\) the trace of \(B\), i.e., \(q(X)=B(X,X)\) for all \(X\in T_{n}(R)\). In this article, the author shows that if \(q(X)X=Xq(X)\) for all \(X\in T_{n}(R)\), then \(q(X)=\lambda X^{2}+\mu(X)X+\nu(X)I\) for some \(\lambda\in Z(R)\) and some maps \(\mu:T_{n}(R)\to Z(R)\) and \(\nu:T_{n}(R)\to Z(R)\).
