Multipliers on subsemigroups of locally compact abelian groups

For a Borel semigroup \(S\) a Borel map \(\omega: S\times S\mapsto\mathbb{T}\) is called a multiplier if \(\omega(x,y)\omega(xy,z)=\omega(x,yz)\omega(y,z) \forall x,y,z\in S\). The multiplier is trivial if \(\omega(x,y)=f(x)f(y)f(xy)^{-1}\) for some Borel function \(f: S\mapsto\mathbb{T}\). Multipliers on subgroups of locally compact abelian groups are investigated. Among other results it is shown that on certain subgroups every symmetric multiplier is trivial.
