Morse decomposition of semiflows on topological spaces
The paper describes ways of extending known results for invertible dynamical systems on compact metric spaces to more general settings. The main results are (1) for discrete-time or continuous-time semiflows on compact Hausdorff spaces, a characterization of Morse decompositions in terms of nested sequences of attractors; when there is a Morse decomposition there is a corresponding complete Lyapunov function; (2) for discrete-time semiflows on separable metric spaces, the Conley decomposition of the phase space into the chain recurrent part and a gradient-like part.
