In the paper under review, the author derives an equivalent of the classical Carleman-Grinberg asymptotic formula [\textit{T. Carleman}, Ber. Verh. Sächs. Akad. Leipzig 88, 119--132 (1936; Zbl 0017.11402); \textit{S. I. Grinberg}, Usp. Mat. Nauk 8, No. 6(58), 97--102 (1953; Zbl 0053.39401)] for the Dirichlet Laplacian in a convex planar domain.
