Abstract: In this paper, we compute the discriminant of the Gram matrix associated to each cell module of the Brauer algebra . Theoretically, we know when a cell module of is equal to its simple head. This gives a solution of this long standing problem.
This paper derives some recursive formulae for the Gram determinants of the cell modules of the Brauer algebras, which generalize the corresponding results in the symmetric group case.
