Abstract: We address the following question, raised by T. Fukui. Is the corank an invariant of the blow-analytic equivalence between real analytic function germs? We give a partial positive answer in the particular case of the blow-Nash equivalence. The proof is based on the computation of some virtual Poincare polynomials and zeta functions associated to a Nash function germ.

The main result of the note is that the corank and the index of a singularity of a Nash function germ (i.e., the corank and the signature of the Hessian matrix at the singular point) are invariants with respect to the Nash blow-up equivalence. This supports a conjecture by T. Fukui, which states that the corank of a singularity of a real analytic function germ is a blow-analytic invariant. The proof uses the relation of the corank and index to Poincaré polynomials of the arc spaces associated with Nash function germs, and the key observation that the blow-Nash equivalent function germs have the same naive zeta function and the same zeta-function with sign made by the author in [Compos. Math. 141, 655--688 (2005; Zbl 1080.14070)].
