By means of the coincidence degree continuation theorem, the authors study the existence of the periodic solutions of a nonlinear second-order differential equation with deviating argument \[ x(t)+f_1(x(t))x'(t)+f_2(x(t))(x'(t))^2+g(x(t-\tau (t)))=0, \] and obtains some interesting results.
