On the linear independence of fractional powers of integers.
Ausgehend von dem bekannten Satz, daß die Gleichung \(x^n - a = 0\), wenn \(a\) nicht die \(n\)-te Potenz einer rationalen Zahl ist, im Körper der rationalen Zahlen irreduzibel ist, wird bewiesen: Sind \(x_1, x_2,\ldots, x_s\) positive reelle Wurzeln der Gleichungen \[ x^{n_1}-a_1=0,\quad x^{n_2}-a_2=0,\;\ldots, \;x^{n_s}-a_s=0 \] und \(P(x_1, x_2,\ldots, x_s)\) ein Polynom mit rationalen Koeffizienten, dessen Grad in \(x_i\) höchstens \(n_i-1\) beträgt, so kann \(P\) nur verschwinden, wenn seine sämtlichen Koeffizienten verschwinden.
