Remarks on a fixed-point theorem of Gerald Jungck
Summary: \textit{G. Jungck} [Amer. math. Monthly 83, 261-263 (1976; Zbl 0321.54025)] obtained a fixed-point theorem for a pair of continuous self-mappings on a complete metric space. \textit{Barada K. Ray} [J. Univ. Kuwait, Sci. 12, 169-172 (1985; Zbl 0576.54044)] extended the theorem of Jungck for three self-mappings on a complete metric space. In the present paper we omit the continuity of the mapping used by Ray and replace his four conditions by a single condition. Our results generalize and/or unify fixed-point theorems of Jungck, Ray, Rhoades, Ciric, Pal and Maiti, and Sharma and Yuel.
