On Rota's conjecture and nested separations in matroids

Abstract: We prove that for each finite field $mathbbF$ and integer $kinmathbbZ$ there exists $ninmathbbZ$ such that no excluded minor for the class of $mathbbF$-representable matroids has $n$ nested $k$-separations.
