Abstract: Let be a compact connected Lie group and a closed subgroup of . Suppose the homogeneous space is effective and has dimension 3 or higher. Consider a -invariant, symmetric, positive-semidefinite, nonzero (0,2)-tensor field on . Assume that is a maximal connected Lie subgroup of . We prove the existence of a -invariant Riemannian metric and a positive number such that the Ricci curvature of coincides with on . Afterwards, we examine what happens when the maximality hypothesis fails to hold.
