Abstract: Let and be the Bessel operator on . We show that the oscillation operator and variation operator of the Poisson semigroup associated with are both bounded on for , , from to , and from to , where and . As an application, an equivalent characterization of in terms of is also established. All these results hold if is replaced by the heat semigroup . }
