Abstract: For a power of a prime , the Artin-Schreier-Mumford curve of genus is the nonsingular model of the irreducible plane curve with affine equation defined over a field of characteristic . The Artin-Schreier-Mumford curves are known from the study of algebraic curves defined over a non-Archimedean valuated field since for they are curves with a large solvable automorphism group of order , far away from the Hurwitz bound valid in zero characteristic. In this paper we deal with the case where is an algebraically closed field of characteristic . We prove that the group of all automorphisms of fixing elementwise has order and it is the semidirect product where is an elementary abelian group of order and is a dihedral group of order . For the special case , this result was proven by Valentini and Madan. Furthermore, we show that has a nonsingular model in the three-dimensional projective space which is neither classical nor Frobenius classical over the finite field .
