Abstract: I In this paper, first we study a complete smooth metric measure space (Mn,g,efdv) with the (infty)-Bakry-'Emery Ricci curvature extrmRicfgefraca2g for some positive constant a. It is known that the spectrum of the drifted Laplacian Deltaf for M is discrete and the first nonzero eigenvalue of Deltaf has lower bound fraca2. We prove that if the lower bound fraca2 is achieved with multiplicity kgeq1, then kleqn, M is isometric to SigmankimesmathbbRk for some complete (nk)-dimensional manifold Sigma and by passing an isometry, (Mn,g,efdv) must split off a gradient shrinking Ricci soliton (mathbbRk,gcan,fraca4|t|2), tinmathbbRk. This result has an application to gradient shrinking Ricci solitons. Secondly, we study the drifted Laplacian mathcalL for properly immersed self-shrinkers in the Euclidean space mathbbRn+p, pgeq1 and show the discreteness of the spectrum of mathcalL and a logarithmic Sobolev inequality.
