Abstract: By definition, the sharp packing index of a subset of an abelian group is the smallest cardinal such that for any subset of size the family is not disjoint. We prove that an infinite Abelian group contains a subset with given index if and only if one of the following conditions holds: (1) and ; (2) and is not isomorphic to ; (3) and is not isomorphic to or to .
