Let \(H\) be a subgroup of a group \(G\). The permutizer \(P_G(H)\) of \(H\) in \(G\) is the subgroup generated by all elements \(g\) of \(G\) such that \(H\langle g\rangle=\langle g\rangle H\). The group \(G\) is said to satisfy the permutizer condition \(\mathbf P\) if \(H<P_G(H)\) for every proper subgroup \(H\) of \(G\). This property should obviously be seen in relation with the normalizer condition \(\mathbf N\), requiring that each proper subgroup is properly contained in its normalizer. This is a short survey of works by the author and J. C. Beidleman on groups satisfying the permutizer condition. If \(\mathbf X\) is a class of groups, a group \(G\) satisfies the condition \(\mathbf P_{\mathbf X}\) if for every proper subgroup \(H\) of \(G\) there exists an \(\mathbf X\)-subgroup \(K\) of \(G\) not contained in \(H\) such that \(HK=KH\). The author states, without proofs, some results concerning finite groups satisfying \({\mathbf P}_{ab}\) and \({\mathbf P}_{nil}\). In particular, it turns out that finite groups with \({\mathbf P}_{ab}\) are soluble. For the entire collection see [Zbl 0908.00018].
