\textit{M. T. Anderson} [Lect. Notes Math. 1339, 1-19 (1988; Zbl 0652.53030)], constructed certain Riemannian manifolds which are complete, simply connected and with negatively pinched sectional curvature and for which certain \(L^2\)-cohomology groups are of infinite dimension. Before these examples were discovered, the cohomology groups in question had been expected to vanish. In the present paper, the author shows that, in Anderson's examples, \(L^p\)-cohomology behaves similar to \(L^2\)-cohomology for \(p\) close enough to 2.
