The authors give several equivalent characterizations of Carleson measures in the context of homogeneous trees. The proof is based on majorizing the Poisson integral by the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator. The standard estimates for the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator are shown directly using the special structure of the tree.
