Abstract: The class of 2-D nonseparable geometrically anisotropic localisation operators is defined, containing highly anisotropic nearly unidirectional localisation operators, as well as isotropic localisation operators. A continuum of anisotropic operators between the extremes of near unidirectionality and isotropy are treated in a single class. The eigensystem of any given operator in this family is determined, thus specifying geometrically anisotropic optimally concentrated functions, and their degree of localisation.
