Abstract: In this paper we consider a semi-linear, energy sub-critical, defocusing wave equation partialt2uDeltau=|u|p1u in the 3-dimensional space with pin[3,5). We prove that if initial data (u0,u1) are radial so that |ablau0|L2(mathbbR3;dmu),|u1|L2(mathbbR3;dmu)leqinfty, where dmu=(|x|+1)1+2varepsilon with varepsilon>0, then the corresponding solution u must exist for all time tinmathbbR and scatter. The key ingredients of the proof include a transformation mathbfT so that v=mathbfTu solves the equation vauauDeltayv=left(frac|y|sinh|y|ight)p1e(p3)au|v|p1v with a finite energy, and a couple of global space-time integral estimates regarding a solution v as above.
