Abstract: We study the dynamics of holomorphic correspondences on a compact Riemann surface in the case, so far not well understood, where and have the same topological degree. Under a mild and necessary condition that we call non weak modularity, admits two canonical probability measures and which are invariant by and respectively. If the critical values of (resp. ) are not periodic, the backward (resp. forward) orbit of any point equidistributes towards (resp. ), uniformly in and exponentially fast.
