Abstract: For a sequence alphann=0infty, we consider the Hankel operator Gammaalpha, realised as the infinite matrix in ell2 with the entries alphan+m. We consider the subclass of such Hankel operators defined by the "double positivity" condition Gammaalphageq0, GammaSalphageq0; here Salpha is the shifted sequence alphan+1n=0infty. We prove that in this class, the sequence alpha is uniquely determined by the spectral shift function xialpha for the pair Gammaalpha2, GammaSalpha2. We also describe the class of all functions xialpha arising in this way and prove that the map alphamapstoxialpha is a homeomorphism in appropriate topologies.
