The congruence extension property in compact semigroups having precisely one regular D-class
The congruence extension property in compact semigroups having precisely one regular \(D\)-class
A topological semigroup \(S\) has the congruence extension property provided that each closed congruence on each closed subsemigroup can be extended to a closed congruence on \(S\). We say that \(S\) has the algebraic congruence extension property provided that each congruence on each subsemigroup of \(S\) can be extended to a congruence on \(S\). From the author's abstract, it is proved that each compact semigroup with precisely one regular \({\mathcal D}\)-class has the congruence extension property if and only if it has the algebraic congruence extension property.
