Abstract: We establish local regularity theory for parabolic systems of Uhlenbeck type with varphi-growth. In particular, we prove local boundedness of weak solutions and their gradient, and then local H"older continuity of the gradients, providing suitable assumptions on the growth function varphi. Our approach, being independent of the degeneracy of the system, allows for a unified treatment of both the degenerate and the singular case.

The authors study the local regularity of parabolic systems of Uhlenbeck type with \(\varphi\)-growth \[ u_t-\operatorname{div}\left(\frac{\varphi'(|Du|)}{|Du|}Du\right)=0 \quad \text{ in } \quad \Omega_T=\Omega\times (0,T), \] where \(\varphi\) is an Orlicz function verifying suitable growth conditions, and \(u:\Omega_T\to \mathbb{R}^N\) is a vector-function. It is obtained local boundedness of weak solutions and of their gradient and as a consequence a local Hölder continuity of the gradient supposing that \(\varphi\) satisfies \[ c^q\varphi(t)\leq \varphi(ct)\leq c^p\varphi(t), \quad C^p\varphi(t)\leq \varphi(Ct)\leq C^q\varphi(t) \] with \(q\geq p>2n/(n+2)\). The technique is independent of the degeneracy of the system and permits a treatment of both the degenerate and the singular case.
