Abstract: The classical invariant theory for the queer Lie superalgebra is an investigation of the mathrmU(mathfrakqn)-invariant sub-superalgebra of the symmetric superalgebra mathrmSym(VoplusroplusV∗opluss) for V=mathbbCn|n. We establish the first fundamental theorem of invariant theory for the quantum queer superalgebra mathrmUq(mathfrakqn). The key ingredient is a quantum analog mathcalOr,s of the symmetric superalgebra mathrmSym(VoplusroplusV∗opluss) that is created as a braided tensor product of a quantization mathsfAr,n of mathrmSym(Voplusr) and a quantization of mathrmSym(V∗opluss). Since the quantum queer superalgebra mathrmUq(mathfrakqn) is not quasi-triangular, our braided tensor product is created via an explicit intertwining operator instead of the universal mathcalR-matrix.
