Adding a transformation to imprimitive transitive groups
Let \(G\leq S_n\) be an imprivitive transitive group on \(X_n\) and \(a\in S_n\backslash G\). Criteria are found for \(a\) such that \(\langle G, a\rangle\) is imprimitive. Some cases are discussed for \(\langle G, a\rangle\) to be primitive. For example, it is proved that \(\langle G, (i_1,i_2,\ldots, i_q)\rangle\), where \(q\) is a prime, is primitive if and only if \(\{i_1, i_2, \ldots, i_q\}\not\subseteq\Delta\) for all blocks \(\Delta\) of \(G\). A semigroup is called \textit{synchronizing} if it contains a constant map. Some sufficient conditions for a transitive group \(G\) are found for \(\langle G, \alpha\rangle\) to be a synchronizing semigroup for a given \(\alpha\in T_n\backslash S_n\).
