Abstract: In this paper, we consider the gauge-invariant ideal structure of a C∗-algebra C∗(E,mathcalL,mathcalB) associated to a set-finite, receiver set-finite and weakly left-resolving labelled space (E,mathcalL,mathcalB), where mathcalL is a labelling map assigning an alphabet to each edge of the directed graph E with no sinks. Under the assumption that an accommodating set mathcalB is closed under taking relative complement, it is obtained that there is a one to one correspondence between the set of all hereditary saturated subsets of mathcalB and the gauge-invariant ideals of C∗(E,mathcalL,mathcalB). For this, we introduce a quotient labelled space (E,mathcalL,[mathcalB]R) arising from an equivalence relation simR on mathcalB and show the existence of the C∗-algebra C∗(E,mathcalL,[mathcalB]R) generated by a universal representation of (E,mathcalL,[mathcalB]R). Also the gauge-invariant uniqueness theorem for C∗(E,mathcalL,[mathcalB]R) is obtained. For simple labelled graph C∗-algebras , where is the smallest accommodating set containing all the generalized vertices, it is observed that if for each vertex v of E, a generalized vertex [v]l is finite for some l, then is simple if and only if is strongly cofinal and disagreeable. This is done by examining the merged labelled graph (F,mathcalLF) of (E,mathcalL) and the common properties that and share.

In the present paper the authors describe the structure of the gauge-invariant ideals of the \(C^*\)-algebra \(C^*(E, \mathcal{L}, \mathcal{B})\) associated to certain labelled spaces \((E, \mathcal{L}, \mathcal{B})\). The class of labelled graph \(C^*\)-algebras was introduced by \textit{T. Bates} and \textit{D. Pask} in [``\(C^*\)-algebras of labelled graphs, J. Oper. Theory 57, No. 1, 207--226 (2007; Zbl 1113.46049)]. The graphs \(E\) under consideration here have no sinks, and the labelled spaces \((E, \mathcal{L}, \mathcal{B})\) in the present analysis are set-finite, receiver set-finite, weakly left-resolving, and moreover \(\mathcal{B}\) is closed under relative complements. The main hurdle is that of identifying quotients \(C^*(E, \mathcal{L}, \mathcal{B})/I\) by gauge-invariant ideals as suitable labelled graph-like \(C^*\)-algebras. It turns out that the appropriate class consists of what the authors call \textit{quotient labelled spaces} obtained from certain equivalence relations on \(\mathcal{B}\). The main result establishes that gauge-invariant ideals of \(C^*(E, \mathcal{L}, \mathcal{B})\) are in bijective correspondence with the hereditary saturated subsets of \(\mathcal{B}\). Criteria, in the form of both necessary and sufficient conditions, for simplicity of certain labelled graph algebras are also obtained.
