Homological Lie brackets on moduli spaces and pushforward operations in twisted K-theory
Let \(\pi:P\to B\) be a principal \(BU(1)\)-bundle. The main results of the article under review, which are very interesting, are characterizations of certain pushforward operations from the cohomology of \(P\) to that of \(B\). Denote by \(\theta\in K_P(B)\) the class in twisted \(K\)-theory determined by \(\pi:P\to B\), and let \(r\) be the rank of \(\theta\). The author proves that the projective Euler operation \(\pi^\theta_!:H^*(P; \mathbb{Q})\to H^{*+2r+2}(B; \mathbb{Q})\) and the projective rank operation \(s_\theta^*:H^*(P; \mathbb{Q})\to H^*(B; \mathbb{Q})\) are uniquely determined by certain properties (including naturality, stability, normalization, base-linearity and push-pull formula, etc.), respectively.
