Let \(A \subseteq B \) be an extension of rings. Recall that the ring \(A\) is said to be perinormal in \(B\) (after [\textit{N. Epstein} and \textit{J. Shapiro}, J. Commut. Algebra 11, No. 3, 341--362 (2019; Zbl 1430.13030)]) if, for any prime ideal \(P\) of \(A\), \(A_P\) is the only local ring between \(A_P\) and \(B_P\) that is centered on \(PA_P \) and satisfies going-down over \( A_P\). The ring \(A\) is said globally perinormal in \(B\) (after [\textit{H. Klawa}, Commun. Algebra 51, No. 7, 3015--3019 (2023; Zbl 1523.13038)]) if, given any multiplicatively closed subset \(W\) of \(A\), \(W^{-1}A \) is the only ring \(C\) between \(W^{-1}A \) and \(W^{-1}B\) that satisfies going-down over \(W^{-1}A \) such that \(U(C) \cap W^{-1}A = U(W^{-1}A )\) (where as usual the set of units of a ring \(X\) is denoted by \(U(X)\)). An integral domain \(A\) is perinormal (respectively, globally perinormal) simply means that \(A\) is perinormal (respectively, globally perinormal) in its quotient field.\N\NLet \((T,M) \) be a local integral domain, with the residue field \(k\), and let \(D\) be an integral domain whose quotient field is \(k\), \textit{H. Klawa} [Commun. Algebra 51, No. 7, 3015--3019 (2023; Zbl 1523.13038)] proved that if the pullback \(D \times_k T\) is perinormal (respectively, globally perinormal) then \(D\) and \(T\) are also perinormal (respectively, globally perinormal). In the present paper, the authors generalize this result by dropping the localness assumption from \(T\). More precisely, they prove that if \(R\) is an arbitrary integral domain, \(M\) an arbitrary but a fixed maximal ideal of \(R\), \(k := R/M\) and \(D\) an integral domain with \(k = \mbox{qf}(D)\), when \(S := D \times _k R\) is perinormal (respectively, globally perinormal), then both \(D\) and \(R\) are perinormal (respectively, globally perinormal). Converse holds in the case \(R\) is a valuation domain.
