Abstract: Let k be a perfect field of characteristic p, let fi:XiomathbbAk1 (i=1,2) be two k-morphism of finite type, and let f:X1imeskX2omathbbAk1 be the morphism defined by f(z1,z2)=f1(z1)+f2(z2). For each iin1,2, let xi be a k-rational point in the fiber fi1(0) such that fi is smooth on Xixi. Using the ell-adic Fourier transformation and the stationary phase principle of Laumon, we prove that the vanishing cycle of f at x=(x1,x2) is the convolution product of the vanishing cycles of fi at xi (i=1,2).
