Sei \(K\times_ sG\) semidirektes Produkt einer kompakten Gruppe K und einer lokal-kompakten Gruppe G. Dabei werde angenommen, daß G auf K wirkt; dann wirkt G auch in natürlicher Weise auf der Menge \(\hat K\) der Äquivalenzklassen unitärer irreduzibler Darstellungen von K. Sei jetzt \(\rho\) eine unitäre Darstellung von \(K\times_ sG\) mit der Eigenschaft, daß ihre Einschränkung \(\rho |_ G\) auf G in eine direkte Summe endlichdimensionaler unitärer Darstellungen zerfällt. Dann zerfällt auch \(\rho\) in endlichdimensionale Darstellungen unter der Bedingung, daß alle G-Bahnen in \(\hat K\) endlich sind. Im Falle einer kompakten zusammenhängenden halbeinfachen Lie-Gruppe K ist diese Bedingung automatisch erfüllt.
