Review text

The convective instability of a plane layer of an electrically conducting medium making an allowance for the nonuniformity of the Joule heat release has been studied. It is found that nonuniformity of the Joule heat release has a stabilizing influence. This conclusion is found to be dependent on the boundary conditions.
