Quantization dimension for inhomogeneous bi-Lipschitz IFS

From MaRDI portal

Abstract: Let u be a Borel probability measure on a d-dimensional Euclidean space mathbbRd, dgeq1, with a compact support, and let (p0,p1,p2,ldots,pN) be a probability vector with pj>0 for 1leqjleqN. Let Sj:1leqjleqN be a set of contractive mappings on mathbbRd. Then, a Borel probability measure mu on mathbbRd such that mu=sumj=1NpjmucircSj−1+p0u is called an inhomogeneous measure, also known as a condensation measure on mathbbRd. For a given rin(0,+infty), the quantization dimension of order r, if it exists, denoted by Dr(mu), of a Borel probability measure mu on mathbbRd represents the speed at which the nth quantization error of order r approaches to zero as the number of elements n in an optimal set of n-means for mu tends to infinity. In this paper, we investigate the quantization dimension for such a condensation measure.
