Radical dynamical monogenicity

From MaRDI portal

An algebraic number field \(F\) is said to be monogenic if the ring \(\mathbb{Z}_{F}\) of integers of \(F\) is reduced to one of its subrings \(\mathbb{Z}[\alpha ],\) where \(\alpha \in \mathbb{Z}_{F}.\) The problem of testing the monogeneity of number fields has been studied intensively for a long time, and in the paper under review the author continues to investigate such a question for extensions, say \(\mathbb{Q}(\alpha _{n}),\) obtained by adjoining to \(\mathbb{Q}\) a root \(\alpha _{n}\) of the \(n\)-fold composition \(P^{n}(x)\) of \(P(x)\) with itself, where \(P(x)=x^{p}-a\) is an irreducible integer polynomial of prime degree.\N\NMore precisely, the author shows that for any fixed natural number \(N,\) the equality \(\mathbb{Z}_{\mathbb{Q}(\alpha _{n})}=\mathbb{Z}[\alpha _{n}]\) holds for each \(n\leq N\) if and only if \(a^{p}\neq a\pmod{p^{2}}\) and \(P^{n}(0)\) is squarefree for all \(n\leq N.\) The proof of this result is local, allowing the author to adapt it to an arbitrary base number field.
