Realizing countable groups as automorphism groups of Riemann surfaces
From MaRDI portal
In this paper the author uses the Galois theory of Riemann surfaces and an explicit construction to show that for any countable group \(G\) there exists a (hyperbolic) Riemann surface \(R\) for which \(G\) is isomorphic to the group of analytic automorphisms of \(R\). Moreover the author shows that in his example that group of automorphisms is also the group of all isometries of \(R\) with respect to the Riemannian metric of constant curvature \(-1\) defining the hyperbolic structure.
