Abstract: Let be a CM local ring of dimension and let be two -primary ideals with a reduction of . For let () be the Hilbert coefficient of () respectively. We call the number the relative Hilbert coefficient of wrt . If is CM then satisfy various constraints. We also show that vanishing of some has strong implications on for .
