Representation of solutions of linear functional difference equations in phase space

From MaRDI portal

Consider the system of discrete Volterra equations \[ x(n+1)= \sum^n_{s=-\infty} Q(n-s) x(s)+ p(n),\tag{\(*\)} \] where \(p:\mathbb{Z}\to \mathbb{C}^k\) and \(Q(n)\) is a \(k\times k\) matrix-valued function. If \(\sum^\infty_{n=0} |Q(n)|e^{\gamma n}< \infty\) for some constant \(\gamma>0\) and if \(\text{det}\left(\lambda I- \sum^\infty_{n=0} Q(n)\lambda^{-n}\right)\neq 0\) for \(|\lambda|= 1\), then for any bounded \(p\) the system \((*)\) has a unique bounded solution on \(\mathbb{Z}\). A similar result is obtained in the case of small-parameter perturbation. Two examles for scalar systems are included.
