Representation theory of general linear supergroups in characteristic 2

From MaRDI portal

The paper under review studies the representation theory of the general linear (super)groups \(\mathrm{GL}\) in the Verlinde category \(\mathrm{Ver}_4^+(k)\) for an algebraically closed field \(k\) of characteristic \(2\). The Verlinde category \(\mathrm{Ver}_4^+(k)\) was introduced in [\textit{D. Benson} and \textit{P. Etingof}, Adv. Math. 351, 967--999 (2019; Zbl 1430.18013)], and is the smallest example of a tensor category that is not Frobenius exact in the sense of [\textit{P. Etingof} and \textit{V. Ostrik}, J. Reine Angew. Math. 773, 165--198 (2021; Zbl 1478.18019)]. The affine group schemes \(\mathrm{GL}(X)\) and their representation theory in the closely related Verlinde categories \(\mathrm{Ver}_p\) (which are Frobenius exact) are studied in [\textit{S. Venkatesh}, Transform. Groups 29, No. 2, 873--891 (2024; Zbl 1546.18015)].\N\NThe Verlinde category \(\mathrm{Ver}_4^+(k)\) is defined explicitly as the category of finite-dimensional modules over the Hopf algebra \(H=k[d]/(d^2)\) with \(d\) primitive. Its objects are of the form \(m1+nP\) with \(m,n\in\mathbb{N}_0\), where \(1\) denotes the monoidal unit and \(P\) the indecomposable projective \(H\)-module. Following [\textit{S. Venkatesh}, Int. Math. Res. Not. 2016, No. 16, 5106--5133 (2016; Zbl 1404.18019)], the affine group scheme \(\mathrm{GL}(m1+nP)\) can be seen as a reduction to characteristic \(2\) of the supergroup \(\mathrm{GL}(m+n|n)\).\N\NThe main result of the present paper is a classification of the irreducible representations of the affine group schemes \(\mathrm{GL}(m1+nP)\). For this, the author first classifies the irreducible representations of \(\mathrm{GL}(P)\), which are indexed by their degree as representations of \(\mathbb{G}_m\) by restriction along the canonical inclusion \(\mathbb{G}_m\hookrightarrow\mathrm{GL}(P)\). For degrees equal to \(2\pmod 4\) there is a unique irreducible representation, and otherwise there are two irreducible representations. All of these representations are constructed explicitly from the symmetric powers of \(P\). The classification of the irreducible representations of \(\mathrm{GL}(m1+nP)\) is then achieved by an analog of the classical highest weight theory. It follows that the irreducible \(\mathrm{GL}(m1+nP)\)-representations are labelled by integers \(\lambda_1\geq\dots\geq\lambda_m\) and irreducible \(\mathrm{GL}(P)\)-representations \(L_1,\dots,L_n\) with \(\deg L_1\geq\dots\geq\deg L_n\).
