Rings having simple adjoint semigroup
The authors study the radical class \(\mathcal K\) consisting of all rings \(A\) for which the adjoint semigroup \((A,\circ)\) is simple. \(\mathcal K\) is non-hereditary, contains properly the Jacobson radical \(\mathcal J\) and is properly contained in the Brown-McCoy radical. Moreover, \({\mathcal J}={\mathcal K}\cap{\mathcal J}_B\) where \({\mathcal J}_B\) is the Behrens radical. Köthe's problem has a positive solution if and only if the polynomial ring \(R[X]\) in indeterminate \(X\) is in \(\mathcal K\) for any nil ring \(R\). Also radicals near \(\mathcal K\) are discussed in the lattice of radicals.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0960.00043].
