Runge-Kutta-collocation methods for systems of functional-differential and functional equations

From MaRDI portal

The paper is a systematic study of the numerical solution of the following initial value problem: \(y'(t)=f(t,y(t),y(\varphi(t)),z(\varphi(t))),\) \(z(t)=g(t,y(t),y(\varphi(t)),z(\varphi(t))),\) for \(t\geq t_0\), and \(y(t)=Y(t)\), \(z(t)=Z(t)\) for \(t\geq t_0\). A class of Runge-Kutta-collocation methods are formulated by applying a continuous Runge-Kutta method and a collocation method to the first, respectively, to the second equation. The order of approximation and the linear stability of some methods of the proposed class are investigated.
